Overview

An opportunity for a structural design engineer to move into the contracting industry. As a member of their technical team you will be working on building and civil works predominantly in London and the South East. This will entail preparing scheme designs, advising on buildability issues and working with external consultants to optimise designs and ensure their correct interpretation. You will work regularly with site based project managers to integrate the structural design with the construction sequence. Your duties will also include the development of frame designs to be used by fabricators, propping designs, technical advice for tenders, site visits and representing the company at technical meetings. You will work closely with the technical manager, who will also provide direction and guidance. Projects will typically include commercial, residential, water treatment, rail and public sector work. The technical level of competence required would suit a civil or structural engineer who can design and take responsibility for delivery. A background in carrying out structural design using Eurocodes is essential.
