This is an opportunity to join a preeminent forensic consultancy, widely considered the leader in civil and structural investigations. Our client is looking for a highways engineer with a background in highways/ road maintenance to join their growing team of experts. The position is varied, intriguing and will focus on national highways and local authority highway investigations. You will be a catalyst for change and improvement as you investigate and determine the root cause of failures and defects. This is a role for a chartered or incorporated engineer with knowledge of highways maintenance processes and procedures.

Your role: Using your background in highway engineering you will investigate a range of faults and failures affecting roads and highways, and associated infrastructure. Site based forensic investigations are typically once per week but intervals will vary. You will use your lateral thinking skills combined with your industry background to determine the root cause of problems and what is to blame. Extensive technical backup is on hand from in-house civil, geotechnical and materials experts. The end product of your work will be a report setting out your findings. Their highways and civil engineering business is in strong demand, there will be opportunities to progress as the business grows.

Training: Their experts are drawn directly from their respective industries. Training is therefore provided to enable you to apply your expertise, carry out investigations and prepare reports. For those with an interest in becoming an expert witness (an optional pursuit) there will be additional coaching.

Your Profile: A chartered or incorporated member of the ICE, CIHT or equivalent. Ten plus years of highways experience gained with a consulting practice, contractor or local authority, this should have a focus on managing and delivering maintenance / reconstruction projects. Good communication skills are essential, especially the ability to prepare well written reports.

Additional Remuneration: In addition to the base salary their profit share scheme offers significant additional income.
