Undergo mentorship in preparation to become a partner with one of the longest established and most respected firms in the forensic investigations profession. You will use all your existing civil & structural engineering expertise working in this intriguing, consistent and high margin sector. Working alongside the head of civil and structural engineering you will receive training in conducting forensic investigations, identifying the root cause of civil and structural engineering failures and in how to present your findings. You will learn how their business is managed, and become familiar with their clients, typically law firms, insurers, adjusters, public bodies and end user / client organisations. The work will encompass transportation and development infrastructure, heavy civil engineering and building related topics.
Your Role: The investigation of failures affecting a range of civil and structural engineering assets. You will consider the implications of the design, construction methodology, materials, loadings, environmental issues and location. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential. Your findings, which will identify the cause of the failure, will take the form of a report that can be understood by those from a non-technical background whilst being able to withstand scrutiny from legal, insurance and technical professionals. You will become a leader in your field, and when fully experienced, will occasionally be called upon as an expert witness during litigation.
Profile Required: A consulting engineer with a design background who has six or more years experience. You should be a degree qualified civil or structural engineer, and be chartered or close to sitting your chartered professional review or part three exam. The role provides exceptional variety and a constant stream of fresh challenges requiring strong lateral thinking skills. You will need to be prepared to work in their Manchester office three days per week during your initial training period.
