Overview

A role for a structural engineer looking for consistently interesting and challenging work. You will collaborate with leading architects, taking projects from client advisory stages through to completion, backed up by some of the industry’s most capable structural engineers. Close support will come from a senior engineering director, he will provide invaluable guidance and impart his considerable knowledge. This is a position for an engineer who wants to realise their full  potential and make career progress. You will be working with one of the UK’s more interesting and capable building structures consultants, a firm regarded as an excellent employer and as an innovator.

Company Overview: A distinct structural engineering practice and SME, and the preferred choice for many of the UK’s leading architects. They have been breathing life into ambitious, often novel architectural ideas for many years, winning many awards in the process, including a recent Stirling prize. This is an independent, technically accomplished firm that collaborates very closely with clients, their work is elegant, practical and cost effective. Typical projects include new and refurbishment schemes in the arts & leisure, residential, commercial, healthcare and education sectors.

Training and Support: There are regular CPD activities and if required you will be mentored and supported to achieve ICE or IStructE chartered status. Much of your development will be the result of your close involvement in the whole project lifecycle and the on-going guidance you will receive. You will be introduced to key clients and develop close working relationships with leading architects.

Your Profile: A degree qualified engineer with a 2:1 or above in civil or structural engineering. En route to chartership, with the ICE or IStructE,  plus five or more years consulting engineering experience. This should have included work on steel and reinforced concrete structures with some responsibility for project delivery. Good lateral thinking skills are essential, as is the willingness to use new methods and materials.
