A senior level highways position that will engage all of your technical, highways maintenance and operations know how, and provide a rewarding and meaningful career change. Our client works in the buoyant forensic investigations sector, they are an international player, widely considered the market leader within civil engineering. They provide generous terms and conditions of employment, are highly regarded as an employer and have very low staff turnover.
This is an opportunity to be an industry expert, your work will span national highways and local authority highway investigations. You will be a catalyst for change and improvement as you investigate and determine the root cause of failures and defects. You should be a chartered or incorporated engineer with knowledge of highways maintenance processes and procedures.

They are a successful business operating in a consistent, high margin profession and a leading authority in their subject areas, employing over one hundred experts drawn directly from industry. They are appointed by legal firms, insurers, loss adjusters, local authorities, government agencies and client organisations.
Remuneration & Benefits: Their benefits package is substantial, on top of a good base salary is a generous percentage of profits, a company share scheme, 10% pension contribution, healthcare and other benefits. Hybrid working is available, largely at your own discretion.
Your role: Using your background in highway engineering you will investigate a range of faults and failures affecting highways, roads and associated highway infrastructure. Site based forensic investigations are typically once per week but intervals will vary. You will use your lateral thinking skills combined with your industry background to determine the root cause of problems and what is to blame. Extensive technical backup is on hand from in-house civil, geotechnical and materials experts. The end product of your work will be a report setting out your findings. Their highways and civil engineering business is in strong demand, there will be opportunities to progress as the business grows.
Your Profile: A chartered or incorporated member of the ICE, CIHT or equivalent. Ten plus years of highways experience gained with a consulting practice, contractor or local authority, this should have a focus on managing and delivering maintenance / reconstruction projects. Good communication skills are essential, especially the ability to prepare well written reports.
Training: Your industry experience will have furnished you with most of the knowledge required, on the job training in some of the more specialist forensic investigation methods will be provided. Once established you will have the opportunity to become an expert witness, an external training course is provided to help you prepare for this.
