Our client, a British Llp employs over 2000 staff globally, they have a new opportunity within their expanding construction Loss adjusting division. Their project workload focuses on large scale building and civil engineering schemes in the UK and internationally. The position calls for a mix of technical, interpersonal and communication skills.

The Role: You will be determining the cause of failures and evaluate their impact on buildings and civil engineering works. Your clients will be the representatives of construction professionals and design & construct contactors. The role will involve the site survey and forensic examination of building/ civil engineering structures, a written report on your findings will establish the cause of failures and who is liable and provide the basis of achieving a fair settlement. These will usually be high value schemes such as high-rise offices, ports & airports, tunnels, dams, power stations and bridges. Specialist outsourced forensic engineering services may be used from time to time. You will become skilled at negotiating settlements between the insured and the insurer and at applying your engineering and construction expertise effectively to the task.

Your profile: They are looking for a civil/structural engineer or construction/project manager who has worked within contracting or consulting engineering. If the latter, you should have had some site exposure. A broad background is helpful, ideally covering civil and building projects, this should have given you first-hand experience of the whole design and construction process. Good interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to clearly explain complex engineering and construction problems to lay people. A high standard of written and verbal communication is essential to ensure your work is clear and stands up to scrutiny. They are scaling up their construction loss adjusting division, some commercial acumen and ambition is required. You will need a 2:1 or above from a reputable university and be a chartered civil engineer, or equivalent.
