Overview

A building structures engineer with an interest in handling a mix of new and technically demanding refurbishment projects is required by this leading building structures consultant. You will work on innovative and elegantly designed new build projects and on sensitive buildings from the thirteenth to twentieth centuries. The scope of work is broad involving structural reconstruction through to the sympathetic re-purposing of listed buildings, clients include Historic England,The National Trust, private and charitable status custodians and include sites that have been awarded world heritage status.

They need an experienced degree qualified engineer with refurbishment experience and an interest in conservation work. You will use a wide range of structural materials including timber, masonry, reinforced concrete and steel and should have gained some experience in most of them. The practice uses the latest design, analysis and materials technology and works with architects and artisans who are leading experts in their field. The position will enable you to work alongside engineers who are widely recognised for their knowledge in this sector.

There will be regular site visits, the nature of the work demands a high level of client care and a shared passion for historic buildings.
